On Wednesday, October 29th, MCHS student Dylan Griggs traveled to Troy, MO, joining 148 other 9th–10th grade students from our music district. Dylan spent the day rehearsing under the direction of Dr. Tom Clark, Director of Bands at Central Methodist University, and helped present a wonderful concert to close out the day.

👏 Congratulations to Dylan on this outstanding musical accomplishment! 🖤💛 #PantherPride #MCHS

Dear Monroe City R-1 Stakeholders,

On behalf of the Monroe City R-1 School District and Board of Education, I am pleased to share an important update regarding the 2023 “No Tax Increase” bond issue. Thanks to your continued support, we have successfully completed a number of major construction and renovation projects that are already enhancing our learning environments and community spaces.

Completed projects include:

New construction of 11 elementary classrooms and an elementary multi-purpose room

New roof installation on the historic elementary school building

Resurfacing of blacktop parking lots and the district track

Renovations to the high school counselor suite and R.I.S.E. room

Upgrades to high school hot water heaters and fire alarm systems

Many upgrades to classroom furniture and technology

Improvements to the baseball and softball facilities

Enhancements to the district agricultural farm

These projects reflect our ongoing commitment to providing safe, functional, and modern spaces for students, staff, and the broader Monroe City community.

Next Steps: Investing for the Future

Additional funds generated through investments of the 2023 bond will be used to improve our auditorium, which is being repurposed as a stand-alone fine arts facility. Planned upgrades include lighting, stage access, and electrical improvements to better support student performances and community events.

We also intend to use investment proceeds to pay off the existing USDA loan from the 2018 district-wide LED lighting renovation, a move that reflects our commitment to fiscal responsibility.

The district will construct a multi-use fitness room, aimed at improving student and staff wellness while enhancing safety and functionality for both curricular and extracurricular use.

Finally, the district has enhanced security surveillance to access new technology to continue to improve school wide safety measures and response.

We deeply appreciate the trust and investment our community continues to place in the district. These facility improvements not only support academic success, but also allow our schools to serve as a hub for community activities and local business partnerships.

Thank you for your continued support of Monroe City R-1 Schools.

Sincerely,
Tony DeGrave
